Why did a Pal I own not shorten the path?
Every step still has to match a verified parent pair in the pack. Owning a Pal only helps if some pair that includes it actually breeds toward the target — the finder already tries every pair your owned Pals can form.
Does the path finder work without JavaScript?
Yes — the form is a native GET form, and the result is computed and rendered on the server from the exact `target` and `own` values in the URL.
